“Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail…” – Yeshua (Jesus), Luke 22:31-32
Gods heavenly processes are perfect, creative and powerful! We are blessed to serve a God who has designed a “program of provision” for whatever malware we have running a script in our lives. No matter what path we may be on by choice or by design, there is always a backup script that can be activated if we need help to prevent a crash.
Here is a quick account of God’s processes in order. A missionary on furlough told the following true story while visiting his home church in Michigan:
”While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point. On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.
Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord. I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident…
Two weeks later I repeated my journey. Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines. He said, ”Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and the drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that 26 armed guards surrounded you. ” At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite.
The young man pressed the point, however, and said, ”No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.”
At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story.
”On the night of your incident in Africa, it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong; I called some men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. (Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?)”
The men who had met together to pray that day stood up. The missionary wasn’t concerned with who they were; he was too busy counting how many men he saw. There were 26.”
God’s jurisdiction is set. Those in His will always have access to a hedge of protection and divine intervention. This is why prayer and a relationship with the Holy Spirit is so beautiful. Legions of angels can be summoned on your behalf even in times when we are blinded of trouble through prayer.
When it comes to those in God’s territory, Satan has to propose his plan verbally at God’s throne and obtain permission to interfere with your reality.
God is the one who has provisioned our victory during our trials and hard times. Satan knows this before He even tries to stumble one of God’s beloved. Before He flipped Job’s life upside down, he had to obtain permission from the Omnipotent One. He appeared with the other Sons of God one day to propose his objective towards seeking eligible human beings he could devour.
“One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Job 1:6-12
Satan must have had Job on his mind before he approached God’s throne, but was hesitant to initiate his objective. He knew that he needed pre-authorization in order to start working to destroy Job. As Satan approached God, notice how he did not ask a question regarding the eligibility of Job. Satan was among the throne only to obtain an authorization and God knew that was why he was there.
“Have you considered my servant Job?…”
God granted Satan the temporary right to afflict Job and flip his life upside down, and apart. God’s Omnipotence was still strong and the parameters were declared and set. In the Contract of the “Test and Trials of Job” there were one set of terms and conditions: take not his life!
The hedge of protection was divinely removed from Job and his angelic hosts of protection were re-assigned. Satan’s authorization to test Job was approved. Nevertheless, everything Job needed to pass his trial was already embedded into his genetic makeup. His spirit being was already equipped with the potential to pass the trial.
God knew Job before the foundation of the world. He created Job with the ability to mine out his own faith and trust in Him.
