How to follow your passion and devote your life to it

black-woman-looking-in-the-mirror-300x300“Just follow your passion in life.”  This statement is weak advice.

The popular, “Follow your heart.” Is even worse.

Passions can be an indicator of your talents, but the story of life rarely stops there. We need knowledge on where and how to exercise our talents and gifts. Those of us who are unsure of our purpose can get lost in the where and how.

Passion is not a requirement to your created purpose or your created gifts. Passion is simply a strong feeling of the heart. Unless your heart is consistently being upgraded by the renewing of you mind (through God’s Word), as it should, then your heart’s passions could possibly cause you to sway from true overall purpose.

“The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” –

Jeremiah 17:9

Abilities that provide value to the world are indicators of your area of distinct gifting. Once you start activating and animating those gifts while on the earth, the “passion”- or love for the work is actually what will be what follows. Not the contrary.

“I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds..” – Jeremiah 17:10

Remember, you don’t want to let the grave rob you or the world of your unique, encrypted, created purpose. We are all made to animate at least one purpose in the earth realm during life. The world will be dark without your gifts. Let your light so shine.

Listen, you think if Christ simply “followed his passion” in life that He would have died a long, bloody death on a wooden cross? I don’t think so. It was His understanding of His purpose that led Him to go to the cross to die. It was His trust in the will of the Father to die willingly. If He had simply, “followed His passion” first before knowing His purpose, He probably would have chosen to live a long life working in his trade as a carpenter, earning money, healing the sick, raising the dead, and teaching Kingdom principles.

Invest time and energy into your gifts and talents. The Heavenly kingdom’s currency on earth is time.  Time is the entity that you will have to give an account for at the closing of the books of life. Invest time into your gifts, animate your purpose and execute the God given work you were assigned to do. That way your deeds will reap a harvest that will be everlasting.

Passion is what follows a life dedicated to work for an intended purpose.
